Employees at South West legal and financial planning firm Mogers Drewett are putting on their running shoes to help dementia sufferers and their families.

The firm, which has offices in Bath, Wells, Sherborne and Frome, is fielding more than 20 runners in this year’s Bath Half Marathon which is being held on October 15.

They include staff from across Mogers Drewett’s personal, business and financial planning teams plus business contacts at other firms including property agents Savills, accountants Old Mill and SBS Design & Build.

They are running the Bath Half in support of the Alzheimer’s Society which is working to help end the devastation caused by dementia, through dedicated support and research into life-changing treatments.

One in 14 people over the age of 65 have dementia, and by 2040, there will be over 1.5 million people with dementia in the UK.

Sean McDonough, managing partner at Mogers Drewett, said: “Dementia affects every person differently but what many families find difficult is the loss of identity that happens to a loved one with dementia.

“We are running the Bath Half this year in support of the Alzheimer’s Society, not only to raise much-needed funds but also in honour of those living with this disease and to remember that no matter what happens, they are still the people we love.

“We have colleagues here at the firm whose families, including my own, are and have been affected by this terrible condition, so the race will be deeply personal for us.
