Guildford law firm Stevens & Bolton sees double-digit revenue growth
Stevens & Bolton LLP in Guildford has posted double-digit growth in revenues, net profit and profit per equity partner (PEP) over the past 11 months for its 150th anniversary year.
The firm saw revenues rise 20 per cent for 2023/24 – increasingly derived from its cross-border work across 48 different jurisdictions – with net profit also up 36 per cent.
Colleagues have also contributed to a number of community initiatives, including donating laptops to a local charity which promotes the education needs of deaf people; getting involved in the ‘Dig on the Mount’ project on their doorstep; and supporting entrepreneurs at Surrey Research Park.
The year also saw four new partners internally promoted, while 13 lawyers rose to senior or managing associate level.
And Doug Williams joined Stevens & Bolton from DLA Piper as chief operating officer to lead the firm’s investment in its business teams.
James Waddell, managing partner, said: “I’m delighted that our results so clearly reflect the confidence placed by our clients in our talented and cohesive group of partners and lawyers.
“We see strength in our full-service legal offering, our national and international outlook and in our all-equity partnership model.
“I’m confident that by always improving, evolving and challenging ourselves to do better, we will continue to attract and retain clients and talented people to our firm.
“Thanks as ever go to our clients, to our broader referrer community and to our people, whose commitment, enthusiasm and hard work makes it possible.”
Doug Williams added: “While the firm has demonstrated consistent and sustainable performance, we recognise the increasing pace of change in the legal market and shifting needs of both our clients and our people and have evolved our ambition and approach to match.
“This year’s step-change in performance was supported by an increased focus on business management and is underpinned by investment in our professional non-legal teams and operating platform as we look to push beyond traditional business services.”
