Gateley Legal has bolstered its South East planning team with the appointment of Kayleigh Chapman as a senior associate at its Reading office.
Chapman joins Gateley Legal following two years at Shoosmiths where she acted as a trusted adviser for local authorities, as well as residential development, care and education clients. Prior to that, she spent eight years within the planning and environmental team at Blandy & Blandy, advising on a spectrum of legal issues including community infrastructure levy advice, enforcement and section 106 matters.
She was noted as a leading associate for environment and planning in the 2024 Legal 500 rankings.
On her appointment, Chapman said: “It’s really exciting to be joining Gateley Legal as it continues to expand its team in the South East. As well as the Reading office, there will also be plenty of opportunity for me to work alongside colleagues within the national planning team, as well as the wider Group, to support with a variety of clients within the housebuilding, development and corporate sectors.”
Keith Lancaster, legal director at Gateley Legal, comments: “Since I joined Gateley Legal just over two years ago, the team has continued to see a significant increase in instructions for housebuilder clients and on complicated development issues, as well as bread and butter town planning matters. It’s great to have Kayleigh onboard as her wealth of experience will add strength and depth to our offering, making her a real asset within our team. Our other property teams are also continuing to expand across our South East offices so there is plenty of opportunity for her to work closely alongside them to produce full-service solutions for clients.”
Gateley Legal advises a wide range of clients on all aspects of planning work including residential development and infrastructure projects, public highways and compulsory purchase and compensation. The team operates nationwide from offices located in Reading, Guildford, London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester.
