National law firm Freeths has appointed directors Caroline Benfield and Elizabeth Taylor, enabling the launch of a new restructuring and insolvency offering in Oxford.

With more than 40 years’ experience between them, Caroline and Elizabeth both join from Wright Hassall.

They specialise in contentious, advisory and transactional work for trustees in bankruptcy, liquidators and administrators.

They also act for a range of secured and unsecured creditors in relation to the enforcement of their rights, as well as for directors in relation to the defence of Insolvency Act claims and disqualification proceedings.

In their new roles, the duo will combine their knowledge and work collaboratively with the national team to nurture the region’s new service line.

Joey Byrne, partner and national head of restructuring and insolvency at Freeths, said: “Caroline and Elizabeth join during a period of expansion for our team across the UK.

“Both bring with them a wealth of experience, which will be invaluable as we establish this new offering in Oxford.

“Their presence will help strengthen our national capabilities as we continue progressing with our growth strategy.”

Caroline said: “I am thrilled to be joining the firm at such at such a critical point in our economy as we welcome in the new government.

“Working with some of the country’s top talent, I am confident Elizabeth and I will have a solid grounding for our clients here in the region.”

Elizabeth added: “I am really looking forward to strengthening Freeths’ national capabilities.

“With this new offering, the firm will be able to deliver the same high-quality, impactful service to an even broader client base.”
