First-half revenues at Chippenham headquartered logistics firm Wincanton have jumped by eight per cent after the company secured a string of new contracts and acquired rival businesses.

In a financial report published on Friday, the firm said the acquisition of Cygnia delivered growth of around 18 per cent in the e-fulfilment sector, while the public and industrial sector saw growth of six per cent, and the general merchandise and grocery and consumer sectors each grew by around four per cent.

New contracts were signed with Primark, The White Company, toy maufacturer MGA, Wickes, and DEFRA.

The firm said 70 per cent of its contracts were on an 'open book' basis, allowing it pass on cost increases to counter inflation.

Net debt closed at £2 million, a £14.4m improvement on the first half of 2022, the group said.
