Sunswap to create 75 jobs in Surrey as production moves in-house

Surrey-based Sunswap has added a new manufacturing capability at its headquarters in Leatherhead to meet growing demand for its solar-powered mobile refrigeration units.
While initially the business had partnered with third-party manufacturers, a recent surge in orders and £17.3 million Series B fundraise has allowed the team to bring more production in-house.
Sunswap’s Leatherhead HQ also houses its engineering department, allowing for rapid implementation of product improvements in response to feedback.
The new facility will create 75 manufacturing jobs in Surrey and support Sunswap’s growth in Europe.
“Building our own manufacturing facility has always been core to Sunswap’s plans,” said Michael Lowe, CEO of Sunswap.
“The recent fundraising success and growing customer interest has accelerated our timeline.
“We’re proud to invest in British manufacturing and engineering talent as we scale up production of zero-emission transport refrigeration technology.”
Local MP Helen Maguire recently toured Sunswap’s new facility alongside investors from the Clean Growth Fund and Barclay in an visit organised by BCVA (British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association).
Helen added: “Sunswap is a great example of how investment in innovative technologies is driving progress towards net zero.
“This key area of investment is creating jobs and supporting the transition to a greener economy.
“I’m delighted to have a local company here in Leatherhead showing the very best of British engineering and manufacturing.”
