Warwickshire's Pashley Cycles Defines Micromobility with London Landmark Scheme
Stratford-upon-Avon based Pashley Cycles has showcased its smart bike share solution at London’s The Green Quarter.
The 100-year-old British bike brand, synonymous with great British design, manufacturing and ingenuity, showcases its smart bike share solution at London’s The Green Quarter.
Developed by the Berkeley Group, The Green Quarter is an 88-acre parkland and canalside residential development in Southall. The bike share scheme is exclusively for residents and its says it is the first of its kind in the UK.
At the heart of the Pashley bike share proposition is the award-winning Pashley Prospect smart bicycle, available in belectric assisted and conventional versions. Designed specifically for bike share projects, this high-quality, innovative British engineered and smart built bicycle is low-maintenance, robust, practical, versatile, comfortable and vandal-resistant, as well as being packed with intelligence and connectivity, Pashley says.
“Designed and engineered in the UK by our amazing team at our Stratford-upon-Avon HQ and featuring ground-breaking intellectual property and innovation - the future of bike sharing has been simplified and made significantly more accessible to so many more public and private communities,” Steven Bell, Pashley’s General Manager, said.
Andy Smallwood, Pashley’s CEO, added: “Working on this trial with the Berkeley Group and seeing our holistic bike share proposition being enjoyed by The Green Quarter residents is extremely rewarding.
“Through our partnership with Urban Sharing we gain valuable insights into how the Pashley bike share is being used, maintained, managed and enjoyed. The data we have gathered is invaluable and our initial analysis is a clear indicator of the early success we have seen with this project.
“It’s a proud time in our near 100 years of experience, positioning Pashley as a leader in the micro-mobility sector and ensuring that cycling plays an essential part in the global sustainable future.”
“The Green Quarter’s Resident Bike Scheme is exclusively for our residents, connecting the community to the surrounding area and providing greener, more convenient commutes,” said Marcus Blake, Managing Director at St George, Berkeley Group.
“Our bike fleet has a total of 30 bikes available throughout the development, with 60 docking stations. Half of the docks are located opposite Southall Station, while the rest are across the development for convenience. This setup ensures that no matter where you are within The Green Quarter, a bike is always within reach.”
Fundamental to the success of the scheme is Pashley’s partnership with Oslo-based Urban Sharing, which enables valuable insights into how the pioneering bike share proposition is being utilised, maintained, managed and enjoyed. Initial analysis is a clear indicator of the early success already being seen.
