The team behind Cheltenham’s Memsahib Lounge restaurant and bar is celebrating the fact that they have won a Good Food Blue Ribbon Award for the second successive year and also again been included as a main entry in the Michelin Guide.

The Good Food Awards recognise the hard-working teams who strive for culinary excellence within their field. Chosen for their food quality, service and value, the prestigious Blue Ribbon is bestowed upon those with high customer ratings/votes and is known as – the Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes.

Memsahib’s Lounge won the award for the first time in 2022.

Since 2002 Good Food Awards have given across a wide range of establishments, ranging from fish and chip shops to fine dining restaurants.

Since 2016 the organisers introduced various sub-categories, allowing different types of eateries to shine within their respective categories.

Memsahib’s Lounge was in the category for fine dining, restaurants and products and the restaurant and bar category. Situated in Cheltenham’s Promenade Memsahibs was the only recipient in the town in this category.

With over 600,000 eating establishments within the UK, competition for the Good Food Awards was unsurprisingly tough.

Inclusion in the Michelin Guide is also highly sought after and only seven restaurants in Cheltenham are listed.

Litu Mohiuddin founder and Chef of Memsahib’s Lounge said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised again with this award and inclusion in the Michelin Guide.

"We receive excellent feedback from our customers about our food, but to get this independent recognition is brilliant, particularly given the fact it is the second time we have won the award.

"This award is not for any one person, but the team as a whole including our chefs, front of house staff and indeed our suppliers who supply us with the fantastic quality local ingredients that are the basis of our dishes. We would like to thank all our customers for voting for us”.

Co-founded and run by husband and wife team Litu Mohiuddin and Rina Saha, Memsahib’s Gin and Tea Bar opened in 2018 and rebranded itself this year as Memsahib’s Lounge.
