Double award for Cotswold pub
The Swan Inn in Swinbrook has been awarded Dining Pub of the Year by The Good Pub Guide for the second year in a row.
The bantams that occupy the famous pubs gardens have been given another reason to cluck as the inn with rooms has also been awarded two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.
Situated on the Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire border the pub with 11 bedrooms has also been used as a set for Downton Abbey the production company even replaced the pubs sign to give it a more period look.
Sitting near a 13th century bridge, The Swan is quintessentially British and once belonged to one of the Mitford sisters, a family known for being writers, political activists and Deborah, who went onto marry the Duke of Devonshire.
The pub is owned by Steve Cook and Archie Orr-Ewing . Stephen Pitt is the general manager while the kitchen team is led by Hubert Kosmala. “Hubert deserves all of the plaudits, it has been a pleasure to work with him,” said Stephen Pitt. “In these times it is great to have something to celebrate, our sister pub, The Kings Head Inn, in Bledington has also just picked up an award for County Dining Pub of the Year for Gloucestershire by the Good Pub Guide as well.”
Renowned Michelin two-star chef Phil Howard, previously of London dining haunts, Bibendum, Harvey’s and now and now at Elystan Street, will be joining the kitchen team for one night on August 3 to produce a special dinner. There will be wine pairing with every course and this special event is already a sell out.
