Daddy’s Home: Chris Bumstead returns to Gymshark as part-owner, all athlete
Gymshark, the Solihull-headquartered fitness community, has revealed that Chris Bumstead, the biggest name in bodybuilding in the world, has rejoined its athlete roster and taken part ownership of the brand. The signing follows the launch of its brand platform We Do Gym, which reintroduced Gymshark as the brand for the gym, and sees the two parties reunited after a three-year hiatus.
Chris Bumstead is one of the biggest names in gym culture. With an Instagram following of over 24 million, he has become an inspiration to gymgoers all over the planet. Last year he made history by becoming the first man to win the Men’s Classic Physique at the Mr Olympia competition for the fifth consecutive year, making him the current reigning champion. Put simply, he is the GOAT and, in the gym world, this is as seismic as when Michael Jordan rejoined the Chicago Bulls or Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United.
We Do Gym positions Gymshark against its competitors, by focusing directly on the activities associated with the gym and will show consumers that Gymshark, like them, is 100 per cent dedicated to the gym, much like Mr Bumstead.
Chris Bumstead, now part-owner and Gymshark Athlete said: “At this stage of my career, I’ve been fortunate enough to have been offered some very exciting opportunities, but I knew if I was going to do anything, it had to be with the right people and for the right reasons. When Gymshark talked me through their vision to become the brand that brings the gym to the world, I knew that if I was going to partner with anyone, it had to be them. So, I’m happy to say I’m now a part owner of Gymshark. I’m really excited for the future of the brand and to get to work.”
Noel Mack, Chief Brand Officer, Gymshark said: “A few months ago, we told the world that we are the gym brand and We Do Gym. You can’t make a claim like that, and not be represented by the most iconic gym-goer in the world. CBum is an inspiration to us and to our community and we know how much this signing will mean to them. That’s why we’re beyond excited to welcome Chris to Gymshark, as both an athlete and a part-owner.”
