Visit Gloucestershire, the county’s new tourism group, has chosen to get behind the public art trail which places artist-created kingfishers to highlight the region’s green lush landscapes, as well as its urban hubs!

The Kingfisher Trail, Cotswolds 2021 is the only outdoor activity to launch across the whole of Gloucestershire, and beyond, this year.

The trail features 20 large scale artist-designed kingfisher sculptures, hosted at hand-picked locations throughout the region and beyond! Plus, there will be an extra Flying Kingfisher which soars into a new location every two weeks, and finally a 22nd sculpture aptly named the Golden Kingfisher, which is part of a new prize draw competition, with tickets available from the trail organisers, Cotswolds National Landscape.

The kingfishers will be hosted at a range of places, from historic castles to market towns, and nature reserves to cafes. All the models have been designed and decorated by a dedicated group of artists. Each kingfisher is unique, with themes close to the artists’ hearts, including nature and wildlife, climate change, people and places special to them, and of course – the Cotswolds National Landscape!

Steve Gardner-Collins from Visit Gloucestershire commented: “The team at Visit Gloucestershire are excited to sponsor the new Kingfisher Trail as yet another reason to visit and explore glorious Gloucestershire in 2021. This free, open access, outdoor activity is a superb way to get out and about and discover something new about the towns and villages that make up our unique county. Take the trail and escape the everyday!”
