An historic Gloucestershire hotel has unveiled its new £1 million luxury spa.

The 17th century Stratton House Hotel in Cirencester has opened a £1 million spa. Named "The Spa in the Garden’, it has been built overlooking the 44-room hotel’s walled garden, the spa features four treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure suite, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation areas.

Eight new jobs, including a spa manager, therapists and a reception team, have been created following the completion of the 325 square metre facility – with further jobs to be added in the months ahead.

Experienced therapy specialist Lucy Brind has been appointed by the hotel’s owners to run the new spa.

I want our visitors to really enjoy the experience of the fabulous new spa here at Stratton House and I am really proud of what we have to offer.

“It’s something fresh and new for the area and I hope it will attract more people to visit not just the hotel, but Cirencester in general.”

Stratton House Hotel, which is also a wedding venue, was purchased in 2016 by husband and wife, Aidan and Sarah Stevens. Including the spa, they have now spent over £2 million on a refurbishment programme.

Mr Stevens added: “We have spent the past year getting the beautiful new spa ready and now we’re delighted to be able to welcome our guests to experience everything we have to offer.

Stratton House was originally the home of 17th century wool merchants, the Masters family. It remained a private home until 1947 when it became a hotel. It features mature gardens and extensive off-road parking.
