Good Things offers consumers one place for gifts, toys, accessories and homeware that make a positive difference to people and planet.
The retailer seeks out inspiring ethical and sustainable gifts that support charities, empower people and protect our planet, offering a one stop shop for those keen to gift sustainably.
In the last twelve months, Good Things championed 45 purpose-driven organisations locally in Bristol and to their nationwide customers online.
Jaquie Foster, head of compliance at Access Self Storage, and awards judge, said: “We chose Good Things for their sustainable journey and ethical approach. They wrote about their journey with passion, and it was great to read how far they have come as a small business, as well as reading about Lucy’s personal drive to make a difference to the planet.
“Utilising our facilities, Lucy has developed her business smartly and organically, using space at Access Self Storage to store products, and manage deliveries, whilst using the storage units available to scale up or down as required.”
Lucy Willoughby, founder of Good Things, said: “As a business that’s conscious of its environmental footprint, we value operating in a temperate building that doesn’t need to be heated, and use rechargeable lighting as and when required in order to reduce energy use.

"The flexibility that the Access team has afforded my small business has been invaluable. I am thrilled that Good Things has been recognised and can’t wait to put the prize package to use building my business further.”
The judging panel also cited Lucy’s focus on ethics, positive impact and overall sustainability as critical points for her small business growth in 2023, alongside resourcefulness, and strategy as an exemplar of how the seeds of a small idea can grow into a profitable, but sustainable, national business – while keeping operating costs at a minimum.
