Oxford PV wins Energy Institute Award

Oxford-based perovskite solar photovoltaics specialist, Oxford PV has won the Innovative Category at the 23rd Energy Institute Awards.
Oxford PV won the accolade, which is awarded to individuals and companies making a significant contribution to the energy industry and its goals, for its developments in perovskite photovoltaics, which see it layering perovskite over a standard solar cell, generating at least 20 per cent more energy than today’s standard solar cells.
Oxford PV CEO Frank Averdung said: “Our perovskite-on-silicon solar cells represent a major advance in solar photovoltaics and provide a key to cheaper and more efficient solar power. We are proud to receive this award and to be recognised as a gamechanger in the energy sector. Above all, we are proud of our team for their dedication in getting us to where we are.”
Chris Case, Oxford PV CTO, said: “Our technology has set world records for solar energy conversion and we have refined it to be the best next technology for solar PV. We look forward to bringing our high-efficiency solar cells to market.”
