Wokingham has starring role in Shinfield Studios-sponsored charity screening
Shinfield Studios, the huge new film and television studio complex, in Berkshire is sponsoring a charity screening of a 1970s thriller set in and around Wokingham, it was reported.
The charity Arts4Wokingham is showing the film See No Evil (also known as Blind Terror) at the Whitty Theatre on the evening of November 11.
As well as featuring many local landmarks, actors include Mia Farrow and Paul Nicholas.
Before the screening, John Gibbs, professor of film at The University of Reading, will introduce the film.
Arts4Wokingham trustee Paddy Haycocks reportedly said viewers should look out for Denmark Street, Easthampstead Road and The Red Lion in Market Place.
"Shinfield Studios’ endorsement of this event will enable us to dedicate more of our funds to our primary aim of promoting and championing public art across the Borough. For the local community, it’s simply a win-win," he reportedly added.
Shinfield Studios is owned by US-based Shadowbox Studios (Shadowbox) - a leading independent film and television studio platform - and covers a one million sq ft site east of Reading.
It features 18 sound stages, 38 workshops, substantial office space, and a nine-acre filming backlot.
It has opened in phases over the last two years and this summer (2024) it was reported that the site was fully operational.
Arts4Wokingham is not charging a fixed fee tickets for the screening, instead suggesting a minimum donation of £7.00 per seat.
The charity said it would like to thank Shinfield Studios, The Whitty Theatre and Wokingham Film Society for their support.
