Ladder business goes up in the world after sale to online electric wholesale supper
A Worcestershire ladder business sold to Deligo in a transaction overseen by KBS Corporate.
Midland Ladder, a Hanbury-based family business established in 1965 which operates nationally, is an e-commerce retailer of high-quality access equipment including ladders, step ladders, scaffolding, work platforms and staircases.
John Humphreys and Melinda Humphreys, Managing Director and Financial Director respectively, instructed KBS Corporate to help them sell the business to facilitate their retirement plans – as well as fulfilling the company’s potential for expansion, based on its prominent reputation within the industry and strong customer relationships.
Midland Ladder was sold to fellow e-commerce specialist Deligo. Based in Dudley, Deligo is an online supplier of fixings, fasteners and accessories for electrical wholesalers in the UK and Ireland which distributes 3,500 product lines.
With fibre glass step ladders being among those product lines, Deligo saw Midland Ladder as a good fit to further expand its offering.
As well as being delighted with the service provided by KBS, Melinda Humphreys believes an acquirer has been found in Deligo which can modernise Midland Ladder and fuel the company’s quest to build on its existing success.
“I am hopeful they (Deligo) will put some energy into the company,” said Melinda. “It needs a young, dynamic, fresh outlook with a greater focus on social media.
“We achieved what we hoped to achieve and KBS was realistic about expectations.
“Oliver Rigby at KBS said: “I’m extremely satisfied. I had a good relationship with our client, and it was nice to see the deal complete.”
Shazaman Ali, KBS Corporate Senior Research Analyst, was thanked by Oliver for helping to identify Deligo as a suitable acquirer, along with Sara Fletcher, Senior Corporate Document Writer, for creating the materials used to market the company.
