Herrington Carmichael Solicitors, based in Farnborough, started off 2024 with the launch of their HC Workspace Hub. The HC Workspace Hub is a free office space where entrepreneurs and startups can come and work, while meeting like-minded individuals in a supportive environment, with access to the expertise and knowledge their businesses need to achieve success.

The launch proved to garner much interest and the first few tenants are signed up and settling in – using the space to support their businesses. The initial enquiries to view the space have been positive and show an eagerness for some to get away from working from their dining table or bedroom and into a collaborative environment.

Yavan Brar, Managing Partner of Herrington Carmichael, shares his vision for the space.

Fostering a thriving entrepreneurial community

Driven by their own entrepreneurial success, Brar recognises the transformative power of fostering a supportive community for aspiring business owners. He says it all comes back to engaging with the business community. “We are an entrepreneurial law firm and we’ve experienced significant year-on-year growth over recent years, much of which has been through helping entrepreneurs” shares Brar. “We want to continue to help others, using our experience growing our own business and our experience in helping grow businesses over the years.”

Empowering entrepreneurs with knowledge and expertise

Beyond providing a collaborative place to work, the HC Workspace Hub will offer a comprehensive range of resources and support services to empower entrepreneurs on their journey. These include:

Free workspace: Entrepreneurs will have access to a dedicated workspace equipped with the necessary amenities to support their productivity and creativity.

Free training sessions: A series of training sessions led by internal and external experts covering a wide range of topics essential for business success, from legal and financial experts to marketeers and digital agencies.

Access to business mentors and advisors: Experienced business mentors and advisors will be available to offer guidance and support to entrepreneurs, providing personalised insights and tailored advice to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goal.

Nurturing talent and building brand loyalty

“We want to nurture talent and create loyalty within that talent,” Brar emphasises. “We believe that by creating a supportive and encouraging environment, we can help entrepreneurs thrive.” By investing in the success of aspiring business owners, Herrington Carmichael is not only fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem but also building lasting relationships with future clients and partners. “We want to become the go-to firm for entrepreneurs in the region,” Brar asserts. “The HC Workspace Hub is a way for us to showcase our commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and establish ourselves as a trusted advisor in the business community.”

Hybrid training sessions available to all

Training sessions will be offered as means to further support entrepreneurs and startups. Along with the launch of the Hub in January, they launched ‘Wednesday Insights for Startups and Entrepreneurs
(WISE)’ which occurs monthly and covers a specific topic delivered by an expert in the field. It is hosted both in-person at their premises in Farnborough and online. The training sessions, in collaboration with other industry leaders such as financial services firms and marketing agencies, will also be available online for all who need the insight to access.

“We want to ensure that these resources are available to all and want to help as many entrepreneurs as possible overcome barriers they may face. By making these sessions hybrid, we are simplifying access to vital information that is essential to all startup businesses,” Brar elaborates.
