What a week to open a new restaurant, but good luck

You have to feel sorry for a new Japanese restaurant which has just opened in Solihull, but we wish them the best of luck indeed, or 幸運を祈ります (which we hope says "I wish you good luck" if Google Translate is to be believed) if they can tough out the next few months, and we urge the residents of Solihull to support the business as soon as they can.

Yakinori opened the doors to its 3,000 sq ft premises on what was formerly the site of Druckers Vienna Patisserie in the Touchwood Shopping Centre.

The Solihull branch is the latest in the expanding Yakinori brand which already includes premises in Grand Central Birmingham, Selly Oak and central Bristol.

The independent restaurant was supported by law firm Thursfields’ Solihull office.

Japanese food expert Ali Karakaya, the owner and founder of Yakinori, said: “Solihull and the south Midlands is a key market for Yakinori, with Touchwood providing the ideal base for us.

“While the Solihull restaurant helps cement our base in the West Midlands, the plan is to expand the chain nationwide. We look forward to continuing to work with Thursfields as Yakinori continues to expand.”

Yakinori offers a fresh and innovative approach to Japanese food.
