Business Finance Summit

An exciting new event for the West Midlands business community has been launched, offering entrepreneurs and businesses a chance to come together, discover the funding opportunities across the region and accelerate their growth.

Taking place on the 20th November at STEAMhouse, Birmingham, the event will bring together decision makers from small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and a variety of funding organisations for a day of inspiration, learning, and networking.

As one of the region’s largest business to business events in 2024, the Summit will offer valuable opportunities for SMEs to connect with other businesses, funding experts, and investors as well as the chance to unite behind the Mayor’s plan to grow the economy and make the West Midlands the best place to do business.

Exhibitors from across the funding landscape will be there to provide insight for SME businesses, including Barclays Business Bank, ART Business Loans - Aston Re Investment Trust, Pro Enviro and Mercia Ventures among the few.

Hosted by the Business Growth West Midlands (BGWM) Investment Readiness programme, funded by West Midlands Combined Authority and delivered by Oxford Innovation Advice

Professional organisations will also participate to discuss business growth opportunities including Watts Commercial, Morgan Reach Accountants and Espace Recruitment

Two seminars will be taking place during the day, one focused on pre-start and start-up organisations and the other on established businesses. Both sessions will include keynote speakers and a panel of influencers from across the region with a variety of viewpoints.

Jane Galsworthy, Managing Director of Oxford Innovation Advice, commented: “Access to Finance is all about supporting small to medium businesses to improve their financial skills and become investment ready. There is so much potential across the West Midlands and sometimes all it takes is a little bit of specialist advice and guidance to help them secure finance to implement their growth plans.”

The BGWM Investment Readiness programme drives regional economic growth by significantly improving the ability of start-ups, high growth SMEs and scale-ups to gain external investment.

Regional Finance Specialists delivering the programme bring first-hand experience of tackling the challenges of financial management and raising finance.

Given the deep-rooted ecosystem already available across the West Midlands, this event will be specifically focused on giving SMEs the opportunity to access finance and become investment ready in one central place.

Investment Readiness ‘Access to Finance’ will ensure small businesses have better control of their finances and understand how to make strong applications for funding opportunities, all of which will provide long-term success for companies in Birmingham, the Black Country and Solihull.
