What a 12 months it’s been, but we're back!  Business & Innovation Magazine is finally back in print with our first published issue since last March out this week.

Like for many small businesses, it has been a hugely challenging year here at Business & Innovation Magazine. Covid-19 has brought about the biggest full stop for brands and consumers that is likely to occur in our lifetimes, leaving many businesses with significant short and long-term planning challenges. There has not been a sector or brand unaffected, that had not needed to pause and take stock.

Last March having to make the decision to publish Business & Innovation Magazine online only for a period, close our office and relocate to our homes, it pretty much left our ambitious expansion and growth plans for 2020 in disarray.

As owners of a publishing business, with a print magazine at the core of our products, what did we do without our printed issue was the burning question?

Invested heavily in our daily B2B news website, was what we did, and the outcome has been spectacular.

Business & Innovation Magazine massively increased its digital coverage.  As a result, the amount of news content across our website, weekly e-newsletters and targeted social media channels has quadrupled. We are achieving record numbers of visitors and readers to our website, and engagement with the region’s business community through our digital channels is at an all-time high.  Read more on this here

So back to doing what we do best...

As a team we are super excited to now finally be back to print, with our first printed publication in a year out this week!

Having invested heavily, we now have what we consider to be the best regional daily business news website in the UK, and so can dedicate more of our printed magazine pages to key business issues, giving more industry commentators and regional experts the opportunity to share their knowledge and undertake sector analysis, as well as publishing the most relevant business news.

But getting back to print however was never going to be easy…

Recently we have been undertaking a massive database update, to ensure we continue to have the region’s most envied and accurate B2B media database. With the vast amount of personnel and company changes in the last 12 months, this hasn’t been a quick or easy task, but our database of contacts is what sets Business & Innovation Magazine apart, in providing a publication that reaches the right targeted senior B2B audience.

On top of this, the printed magazine has undergone a re-design and is back with a fresh new look and re-shaped editorial content. Our new platform-led,  printed issue has an even greater focus on key industry and business sectors that are relevant to our readers. The printed magazine will be a more in-depth, business resource, research led publication that looks at national business issues but offers a true regional business perspective, as we continue to reveal the companies, personalities and innovations which are the bedrock of the regional economy, as well as showcasing new companies, entrepreneurs and ideas.

With our return to print we thought it was about time we reminded you of who we are and the team behind Business & Innovation Magazine….

Nicky Godding – Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief

Nicky is currently writing and researching for the next Q2 spring/summer issue which will be due out in May. Over the past few months Nicky has been super busy writing the return issue of the printed magazine, alongside at the same time, researching writing and updating the website daily with news stories from across our region.

On a personal note, Nicky said: “There was nothing else for it last year except to keep my head down, make Business & Innovation Magazine’s news website the most informative ever and dream about seeing family and friends again when this is all over. On the upside, I grew some epic potatoes (for the first time ever), realised that one courgette plant produces enough of said vegetable to feed the British army for a year (I planted five), and we welcomed another puppy to the household.”

Kirsty Muir – Co-founder and Commercial Director

Many of you will have already heard from Kirsty already, as she hits the phones to get back in contact with our wonderful customers, and reaches out to new ones on her quest to help you promote and profile your company.  Kirsty is the best in the business at teaming her sales expertise with knowledge of what her advertisers want to achieve.

On a personal note Kirsty said: “Last year was the toughest of my life, sadly losing my Mum in the middle of last year, whilst trying to steer our business through a pandemic at the same time. However it wasn’t all bad and 2020 ended on a high, having met the love of my life and buying our dream home together. For those of you who know me, you'll know how much I'm sooooo missing the ‘Party’ and I can’t wait to see you all again for a large drink soon”.

If you want to promote your business, Kirsty’s your lady! @KirstyLovesBiz

Lizi Clapham – Head of Operations aka ‘Head of Everything’

Over the past few months Lizi has been working hard on updating and organising our database to make sure we are in the best possible place for mailing out our return to print Spring 2021 issue. Lizi also manages our social media presence which is a job itself with our active social media engagement as well as general ‘office’ management.

On a personal note, Lizi said: “While Covid-19 slowed down my social scene and changed my outlook on life, I kept busy taking on the role of caring for my granny and signing up to be an NHS volunteer while I was on furlough. Although 2020 was a weird year it certainly wasn’t uneventful, I turned the big 30, brought a house and got engaged, all without having a single party!”

If you need help with everything and anything at B&I, Lizi’s your lady!  @LiziSortsBiz

Good quality regional magazines are exceptionally effective at serving business communities.

Back in January we turned four and received some heart-warming feedback which gave us all the motivation to keep working hard to create a platform for our region’s businesses.

Regional magazines deliver a healthy dose of positivity and persuasion along with essential regional business news to help people and companies make the most of any situation,  even one as challenging as a global pandemic, and our readers agree…

“My client gets a great reaction whenever he’s featured on your website”

"I love your magazine. And I have forwarded it on to a number of people.  Best magazine my in-box gets!"

“I just wanted to say how much I enjoy receiving your mag/email because it gives a more balanced view on the regional economy than that you get from the mainstream media.”

"Well done - great achievement, and always look forward to those emails coming through. Some great success stories being profiled!"

"We love the wider geographic coverage and cross-sector focus of the magazine. It's a global, and very inter-connected business world and what's happening in neighbouring counties / complementary sectors is relevant to all of us in business and Business & Innovation magazine brings it all together"

"This is a veritable triumph. Thank you for all the support you provide to our community of businesses, organisations and charities, helping to bring enterprise and connections together and helping us all to generate awareness in our fields of work. This was never more needed than now, though it is must be so tough for you. THANK YOU"
