US life science company NEB opens multi-million pound manufacturing hub in Thames Valley

Massachusetts-based life science firm New England Biolabs (NEB) has now opened its first international product development and manufacturing site in the Thames Valley’s health and life sciences (HLS) cluster, which will be fully operational from this summer.
As reported last year, NEB, a global leader in the discovery and production of enzymes for molecular biology applications, announced it would establish the site at Milton Park, Oxfordshire.
It represents NEB’s first product development and manufacturing site outside the USA and the 30,000 sq ft facility will allow it to expand its range of lyophilized reagents, which can be stored and shipped at room temperature, reducing logistical challenges.
"NEB’s investment provides another example of the Thames Valley’s growing reputation, in the UK, as the leader in the Health and Life Sciences sector and our ability to attract world-class companies from around the globe," said Paul Britton, chief executive at Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce.
"This investment is a testament to our region’s innovative ecosystem and highlights the significant foreign direct investment that continuously fuels our growth and success.
"We look forward to welcoming NEB to join our Thames Valley health and life sciences working group and contributing to the region’s continued growth, industry collaboration and intelligence sharing."
