Southampton FC and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have been announced alongside a host of other businesses to appear at the upcoming Southampton Careers Fair.

The free event hosted by GO! Southampton and Southampton City Council will take place on Tuesday 25 April, connecting jobseekers with employers and businesses across the city.

Visitors can find out about jobs on offer, receive personalised careers advice, and speak to employers who are actively searching for new team members.

Among the sectors represented at the fair will be construction, customer service, and care and administration, as well as organisations and charities offering wellbeing and mental health support.

Those looking to develop their skills can meet with training providers, while the Employment and Support Team will be there to help with updating CVs, applying for jobs, and developing interview skills.

The city’s Business & IP Centre will also be in attendance, providing business information services.

Stephen Manion, Executive Director at GO! Southampton, said: “Southampton has a fantastic pool of talented candidates, and the city is an exceptional place to work, with plenty of opportunities available in leading sectors.”

GO! Southampton serves as the city’s Business Improvement District, with an aim to boost employment. It has therefore introduced a city centre jobs board on its website, where businesses are welcomed to promote vacancies free of charge.

Stephen added: “Our city’s thriving Arts scene means that our jobs board regularly advertises roles at some of the city’s finest venues, including the Mayflower Theatre – the largest theatre on the South Coast, and its sister venue MAST Mayflower Studios.

“Large professional service companies such as Quilter and Carnival also reside in Southampton offering plenty of opportunities in the legal and financial sectors.

“We hope that this, along with the Southampton Careers Fair, will showcase the vacancies available in the city and bridge the gap between those looking for a job and those looking to expand their teams.”

The free event takes place in the FigFlex Offices at Frobisher House, next to Southampton’s Central Train Station. More information is available here.
