South West IT firm aided by tax specialist on its mobile engineering app rollout

A Yeovil-based IT firm is rolling out a new mobile app, which helps engineers work in remote areas, and has been aided in its development by tax relief advice from Grantica.
CETSAT said the new web and mobile application means engineers can access and record job information where there is no mobile signal or wi-fi coverage.
The company was advised by Grantica whose managing director Shaun Bartle is based in Weston-super-Mare and has made successful claims for R&D tax credits totalling £150,000 for developing the new app and other bespoke software solutions.
"We have already introduced this feature within another client’s mobile application where they have a similar setup with field engineers carrying out onsite works from job tickets allocated within the app," said Alan Watkins, managing director of CETSAT.
“Any sector that has a field-based workforce working from allocated tickets or job sheets could benefit from this solution," he added.
"We understand the importance of collecting data in a format that makes the onsite process as easy and pain-free as possible, whilst ensuring the data remains protected and secure at all times. This is what the app provides.”
The new feature, created for a London-based electrical and data installation company, means data automatically syncs to a main database when mobile connectivity is restored.
"The R&D claims process is quite a complex one to go through and it’s not an easy task without expert guidance,” he added.
Shaun Bartle, from Grantica, said: "We are delighted to have helped CETSAT unlock the full potential of R&D tax relief for their innovative work developing bespoke solutions for businesses.
"Making a successful claim for R&D tax relief can transform the fortunes of businesses like CETSAT and help fund the development of exciting new technologies that improve the way people work.
"Whether it’s developing a more efficient manufacturing process that minimises waste or designing new, secure, and highly scalable software solutions that improve data-handling, we can help unlock the full potential of R&D tax relief."
