Sittingbourne's Cheran's Bakery beats crowdfunding target as it pursues growth
Kent-based baker Cheran's Bakery, which has opened five shops in 14 months, has smashed its crowdfunding target of £225,001 by 123%.
As of December 5, with one day to go, the company had raised £277,262 from 146 investors, according to the seedrs website.
The company, which also sells online, makes sweet treats and sweets and has made £1.2 million in sales since it launched.
The bakery, started by Cheran Friedman, a 29-year-old mother of two, has sold over 60,000 brownies, 100,000 cookies and 30,000 milkshakes to many loyal customers.
It is all sold exclusively through the growing chain of five, soon to be six, shops. Each shop also offers delivery via Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber.
Spring 2024 will see the company launch an events and pop-up division that will help spread the word far and wide at fayres, festivals and other outdoor events.
