QinetiQ, the global defence and security company, has reported that its global threat representation business had been awarded its largest and longest contract - from the German armed forces (Bundeswehr), air force, army, navy, and special forces.

The 10-year aerial training services (ATS) deal is worth €284 million and comes with a two-year extension option.

QinetiQ, which is headquartered in Farnborough, will provide a range of tailored services including joint terminal attack controller (JTAC) training, Red Air training and close air support.

It will also offer maritime air operations, ground control intercept training, air traffic control training and target towing for ground based air defence systems - all delivered by its newly enhanced QinetiQ fleet of eleven PC-9 and four PC-12 aircraft.

"In the current heightened threat environment, the award of the Aerial Training Services contract demonstrates QinetiQ's commitment to ensuring the German Armed Forces are always operationally ready for their missions," said Steve Wadey, QinetiQ's group CEO.

"The contract will form a crucial part of our Global Threat Representation offering across all domains. We are very proud of our highly skilled employees who will deliver thousands of flight hours of training per year for our customer."

Qinetic can provide realistic emulations of threats across multiple domains to support training missions and employs around 8,500 highly-skilled people.
