Poole’s Merlin Entertainments appoints new CEO

Merlin Entertainments, which operates theme parks and attractions around the world from its base in Poole, has named Fiona Eastwood its new CEO.
Fiona has been with the business for 10 years – most recently as chief operating officer – and previously worked as managing director of consumer products at BBC Studios, leading a successful turnaround of the division.
Having served as interim CEO at Merlin since November, she’s now officially taken the top job as the company looks ahead to the opening of the first standalone Peppa Pig Theme Park in Dallas, US next month and a new LEGOLAND Resort in Shanghai, China this summer.
“It’s an honour to be chosen to lead Merlin,” said Fiona.
“It’s a truly world class company with remarkable global reach and impact.
“Over the past decade, I’ve seen first-hand what the business is capable of.
“My task as CEO is to lead Merlin to new heights, with a focus on performance, creativity, operational excellence and guest experience.
“I’m grateful to the board for their support and look forward to continuing to work with an exceptional management team and our colleagues worldwide to implement the business’s transformational strategy.
“Together, we’ll drive growth at scale and help Merlin reach its full potential.”
Roland Hernandez, chair of Merlin, added: “Fiona has a deep understanding of the business, the strategies required for sustainable growth and the vision to spearhead our ongoing transformation.
“As Merlin’s former COO, she recognises the significant role each location plays in our ongoing success, and she’ll be instrumental in bringing our global attractions together into one united business.
“The board looks forward to continuing working with Fiona.”
Fiona is also a non-executive director of UKHospitality and a member of the UK government’s Visitor Economy Advisory Council.
