The Milton Keynes-based Innovation Hub opened last week and will showcase new technology innovations.

On Friday 18 March, the Innovation Hub opened its doors to guests from the region’s business community for a tour of the Bouverie House MK:U building before their official opening on 21 March.

Based at Cranfield University, the new Innovation Hub facility has been described as a space for local businesses and entrepreneurs to grow and develop their products.

The Hub will house some of the latest innovations and technologies including virtual reality, robotics and 3D printing facilities.

Many of the new innovations being showcased will be related to smart cities.

Those inhabiting the space will be able to utilise the space to discover new ways of using emerging technologies in their businesses through events and demonstrations.

The launch event for the Innovation Hub was hosted by Professor Lynette Ryals, chief executive of MK:U.

Some of those who attended the event include Cllr Robin Bradburn, deputy Leader of MK Council, Hilary Chipping, chief executive of SEMLEP, and Dr Julie Mills, Principal of MK College.

Prof Ryals commented: "Milton Keynes is a city founded on innovation. MK:U’s role will be to develop new and innovative ideas that shape the way we live for centuries to come."

Cranfield University’s MK:U page stated that the new Innovation Hub will be ‘one of the UK leaders for smart-cities-focused communications research’.
