Midlands-headquartered family-run foodservice provider MKG Foods is celebrating 75 years in business and eyeing more growth to come.

Originally founded in 1950 by Lewis Mayling to capitalise on the new trend in 'frozen foods', the Walsall-based firm has scaled growth by double digits within the last 12 months alone.

"We are incredibly proud of the entire MKG Foods journey and genuinely feel privileged to be able to help lead and grow the business originally founded by my grandfather 75 years ago," said Philip Mayling, director of MKG Foods.

"The last 5 years have been particularly interesting - following the government forced shutdown and resulting loss of 85% of our trade overnight at the start of the pandemic, to rebuilding our customer base and accelerating growth by over double digits during 2024 alone," he added.

"We are now focused on building on this success through continued investment in our technologies, which ensure our client base can effectively monitor and order food stock when required with fast and efficient turnaround times.

"This is not only something that we feel will aid client growth and retention but will also really benefit businesses as they manage the additional financial constraints imposed by the recent autumn budget."

Philip's grandfather initially focused on the manufacture and sale of ice cream in and around the Cannock area.

Today, MKG Foods is the Midlands’ number one foodservice provider, supplying chilled, ambient and frozen food ranges to hundreds of establishments across the region.

Three members of the Mayling family are still heavily involved in the business, which strives to maintain the highest delivery standards in the industry, with a 99.9% delivery rate.

With offices in Aldridge and Nottingham, the company is underpinned by a team of over 100.
