Midlands-based Kigass Aero Components celebrating its centenary

Kigass Aero Components Ltd - one of Warwickshire's best-kept engineering secrets - has hosted a visit from local MP Matt Western as the company celebrates 100 years in business.
Kigass, now a cornerstone of British industry, was founded in London by Charles Wardman, and it quickly gained recognition as a leading manufacturer of top-quality starter motors for diesel vehicles.
The firm, whose clients include Rolls Royce and the Ministry of Defence, has been owned and run by four generations of the Wardman family and has built a reputation for engineering excellence.
It serves the aerospace and racing car sectors, including Formula 1. It is also a manufacturer and supplier in the industry and energy sectors.
During the visit, the MP engaged with directors, shopfloor staff, and apprentices. The trip highlighted Kigass's commitment to nurturing young talent and ensuring the next generation of engineers was equipped to carry forward its legacy.
Company executives explained the challenges for small businesses and expressed hopes for increased government investment to foster a more supportive environment.
Western acknowledged these concerns sharing that skills were very much on his agenda and remarked on the crucial role small businesses play in the economy.
"Kigass Aero Components’ contribution to British industry over the past century is remarkable," he said.
"Small businesses like this are vital and play a key role in so many industries up and down the country. We should be very proud of the expertise and excellence Kigass show right at the heart of our towns."
Director Joanne Wardman-Smith added: "Over the past century, Kigass has been at the forefront of engineering in some of the most exacting industries.
"I am immensely proud of our legacy and our ongoing contributions to British industry."
