Housebuilder contributes £24.4m to local communities in Kent

Housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Kent revealed it had contributed £24.4 million last year to benefit local communities across Kent.
According to its recent 2024 Socio-Economic report, this included £16.8m on physical works, such as highway environmental improvements, and affordable homes.
It also contributed £7.6m supporting community infrastructure, through planning and Government schemes, with the launch of new schools and playgrounds.
"Our team is committed to delivering a positive impact across Kent, especially in the local surrounding areas of our developments" said Natalie Perry, sales and marketing director for Barratt David Wilson Kent.
"Our commitment to the areas we build in go above and beyond the delivery of homes. "
She added: " Our contribution to local infrastructure, public services, charitable causes, nature and many more demonstrates everything we consider when delivering new properties, and I am glad to say that as a team we are proud that we have this opportunity to make an impact on this level."
The housebuilder also donated £116,000 directly to local charities, and employees contributed 413 hours of volunteering across last year. That included a week long project at Communigrow - the East Malling-based sutainable food education charity - and Maidstone-based Archbishop Courtenay primary school.
In 2024, Barratt David Wilson Kent created four hectares of green space through public open space and private gardens, as well as installing 83 priority species enhancements, including swift nesting bricks, hedgehog highways and bat boxes.
During the year, it unveiled 510 homes in Kent, including 94 affordable homes, with over 98.8% built with sustainably sourced timber.
The housebuilder is set to launch a range of new homes this year in areas such as Sittingbourne, Deal and Ramsgate.
