Hampshire logistics firm Meachers makes £1m fleet investment
Meachers Global Logistics in Hampshire has made a major investment in its fleet and new faces in key areas of the business.
Its recent purchase of ten trailers and six tractors comes to a cost of more than £1 million.
Six of the trailers will be dual branded with Meachers’ customer Prysmian Cables and Systems, formerly Pirelli Cables, based in Eastleigh.
Meachers’ former commercial director, Gary Whittle, has also taken over the role of operations director, following the retirement of Rob Lewis in March.
He explained: “Prysmian is a long-standing trading client and so we are pleased to foster our relationship by increasing the fleet size and including them on the branding.
“We’re investing in our assets and building for the future to make us bigger and more resilient.
“We’re supporting the infrastructure of the organisation, with training, promotions and new faces joining us in key mid-management roles.
“We’re aiming for a broad resilient team in anticipation of future customer demands.”
In terms of new recruits, Mark Lee has joined the team as general manager, heading up the freight forwarding activities.
Emma Newman was also appointed warehouse operations manager last year, applying her background in logistics to the new role.
“We’re futureproofing our business to make it more robust,” said Gary.
“We’re positioning ourselves to be bigger and better in the future.”
