Green light for plans at Lydney harbour
Plans for a fish smokery, restaurant and visitor attraction at Lydney docks in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire have received the green light, it was reported.
Severn and Wye Smokery has been granted permission by Forest of Dean district council to transform Pine End Works on Harbour road, the site of former factories dating back to the Second World War.
The plans reportedly include a fish processing plant, eel farm, visitor centre and restaurant, as well as staff accommodation, a parking area and planting and landscaping.
Severn and Wye Smokery was founded in 1989, employs over 240 people, and supplies fish and meat to chefs and food halls around the world.
It reportedly said its current spread of locations was inefficient and that the new development will make the business more resilient.
Recently, Lydney Harbour has been developed for tourism via the Forest of Dean District Council-led £2.1 million Destination Lydney Harbour project which has seen the addition of a new cafe, art trail and visitor centre.
