Moreton Cullimore has become chairperson of the national Road Haulage Association, the youngest national chairperson in the organisation’s history.

The 41-year-old managing director of family-run haulage firm The Cullimore Group has been appointed as the new national chairperson of the Road Haulage Association.

Moreton Cullimore, whose father, Roger, also sat on the RHA national board for several years, was named chairperson at the association’s AGM on 27 May. As chair of the RHA’s Midlands, Western, and Wales regional council, Moreton has long championed the issues facing hauliers within the region. He is now looking ahead to aiding the RHA in supporting the haulage sector’s post-Covid recovery.

Moreton said: “It is a huge privilege to take up this role at a pivotal time for all areas of our industry. I will do everything I can to work for our members and our wider industry and its future.

“Cullimore’s has been in haulage for more than 90 years and we have been members of the RHA since it was established more than 75 years ago. My grandfather, father and I, have always believed that the support provided by such a strong organisation is invaluable.

“The past 12 months raised so many challenges and the RHA has supported its members and the industry as a whole throughout both the pandemic and the end of the Brexit transition period.

“I want to thank my predecessor, Ashley McCulla for his work, support and advice and I know that RHA vice-chairperson, Tim Slater and I, working with the Association’s management team can effectively move the industry along the road to recovery.”

Established in 1927, The Cullimore Group has multiple quarry sites across the South West. Moreton was named managing director in 2010, becoming the third generation of the Cullimore family to be involved in the firm.
