Lydney based based powder milling and blending specialist Pilamec has been acquired by The Berkhamsted-based magnet manufacturer Bunting.

The financial details were not disclosed.

Pilamec is a leading specialist supplier of materials and size reduction services to the chemical, metal and ceramic industries.  The company processes a wide range of materials including, ferro-llaoys, silicon metal, ragphite, boron, ferro phosphorus and other metal types.

Pilamec specialises in batch dry milling, screening and blending of organic and inorganic minerals for companies in industries as diverse as mining, refractories, foundries, recycling, and ceramics.

Simon Ayling, Bunting’s European Managing Director, said: “Pilamec is a successful and well-respected company with great potential for growth. Through our Berkhamsted operation we already supply magnet materials and the Pilamec acquisition expands our range of materials, processing capabilities and markets.”

Bunting's latest purchase follows its acquisition of Swindon-based MagDev, was part of the Delta Magnet group of companies, last October. The facility features testing and in-house machining facilities as well as over 1,100 square meters (12,000 sq ft.) of warehouse space. MagDev is a leading custom magnets and industrial magnets manufacturer specialising in supplying permanent magnets, magnetic assemblies and soft magnetic solutions in various shapes, sizes and grades, with magnetic properties tuned to specific applications.

Bunting is a world leader in magnetic technology, magnetic separation equipment and metal detection systems for industry.

It has two manufacturing facilities in the UK and offices in Italy and Bulgaria.

Its Berkhamsted facility focuses on supplying the full range of magnets, holding magnetics, and work holding magnets. As well as supplying high and low volume quantities of magnets, high investment supports the manufacture of magnetic assemblies and High Voltage Magnetising Equipment, including post assembly magnetising systems.

Its Redditch facility engineers and manufactures magnetic separation and meal detection equipment to industry across the world. Technology encompasses permanent magnet, electromagnet, eddy current, stainless steel removal and metal detection systems, made to either standard designs or to our customers’ exact requirements. Its large range of equipment enables it to eparate and detect for a wide range of industries including recycling, energy recovery, food, plastics, powder and bulk, minerals and quarrying.

Its E-magnets division holds many millions of stock magnets, at very competitive prices, in a huge range of grades and types, all available to order online, for next day delivery. The team is always available to offer purchasing assistance, technical support and to discuss individual requirements.
