A Marlborough company which creates original fabrics from weaving, dying and with a unique take on traditional printing in its Wiltshire factory, has received its King's Award for Enterprise for this year from the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton.

Fermoie directors Martin Ephson (OBE), Tom Helme (OBE) and Jamie Shawcross were presented with Award at Fermoie’s design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough, where it employs more than 50 people.

After the presentation, Mrs Troughton toured Fermoie's site, visiting its studio and print facility with a preview of autumn launches, and the accessories workshop where she saw hand-made lampshades and cushions being made.

Jamie Shawcross, Director, Fermoie said: “We were honoured to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant for Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton to our Studio and manufacturing site in Marlborough, Wiltshire for the presentation of our King’s Award for Enterprise. I am delighted to see the hard work of our teams recognised by the prestigious award. We’ve worked incredibly hard to build our company and develop our export business, which has grown eightfold in just four years.

"There’s a real appetite among international customers, particularly in America but also across Europe and further afield, for beauty in design and print. We’re delighted that our hand-drawn artwork, distinctive colours and beautiful fabrics, all manufactured entirely in-house here in the UK, have found such a receptive audience right across the world.”

Fermoie received Britain’s most coveted commercial prize after growing its export business by more than 800 per cent in just four years, through a strategy based on creating beauty in design and print alongside unparalleled customer service. It has built its success on USPs including original hand-drawn artwork, unique colours, an innovative take on traditional printing, and the fact that all Fermoie fabrics are designed and made entirely in-house.
