The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham is celebrating a new partnership with Investec Wealth & Investment (UK).

Building on the theatre's long-standing relationship with Investec Wealth & Investec (UK), it reinforces the leading wealth management company’s continued commitment to community arts and education, supporting the theatre’s ethos of accessibility for all and helping to remove barriers to participation in the arts.

The high-profile partnership kicks off with the well-known Summer School for young people aged between 13 to 20 years old, enabling the launch of a brand-new technical course that will enable young people to learn all about the behind-the-scenes aspects of stagecraft, including lighting, sound, costume, set design and stage management.

The Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) bursary is fully funding two summer school places, making them completely free to students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend. This year’s Summer School takes place between 7th to 16th August and culminates with a final show, taking place at St. Edward’s Senior School in Cheltenham.

The wide-ranging support provided by Investec, will also fund this year’s Arts Awards, providing free training and resources for up to 60 young people participating in the national Arts Award Scheme at all levels, from Discover right up to Gold. The scheme is designed to encourage young people to get involved in creative projects and gain a nationally recognised award.

National research has shown that Arts Award achievers gain in confidence, communication skills, independence and self-motivation, learning to reason, reflect and network more effectively, which helps to prepare them for further study and the world of work.

The Everyman is an accredited Arts Award Centre with Arts Award advisers, and we currently work with young people from Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees, Cheltenham Borough Homes, The Rock in Cheltenham (a youth club specifically catering for children facing challenges), and National Star College.

Other aspects of the partnership will see Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) funding this year’s live streaming of the Studio Children’s Christmas Show (The Elves and the Shoemaker) into children’s hospital wards around the county and beyond and will also fund a number of free tickets so that a group from the theatre’s chosen Christmas charity, Cheltenham Open Door, can attend this year’s pantomime.

Tristan George, Office Head in Cheltenham, at Investec Wealth & Investment (UK), said: "We are proud to have been part of the Cheltenham community for more than 40 years and able to support a range of local festivals and charities. It's really exciting to be providing the Everyman Theatre with the financial support they need to make theatre and the arts more accessible to those who might not otherwise be in a position to get involved. Whether you prefer to be on stage or watching a show, we hope as many people as possible take advantage of the range of opportunities now available on our doorstep at the Everyman Theatre.”.
