Berkshire: Brewing success at Royal Windsor Racecourse
Royal Windsor Racecourse is to launch a new bar at the venue Duke Street Bar in partnership with award-winning local business Windsor & Eton Brewery.
Windsor’s last local brewery closed in 1931, but since 2010 cask brewers Windsor & Eton Brewery has been on a mission to bring back the tradition of Windsor beer and has so far made a great impression with its award-winning ales and popular Knight of the Garter and Magna Carta brews.
Duke Street Bar, which opens on Royal Windsor’s season opener raceday on April 13, will feature a large variety of Windsor & Eton beers and ales and has been decorated with the brewery’s signature branding – a skyline image including the recognisable shape of Windsor Castle.
Gavin Jones, catering general manager at Royal Windsor, said: “It’s great to have this prestigious local brewery on board with the racecourse and we are really excited about the opening of our brand new Duke Street Bar on our first raceday of the season. Windsor & Eton Brewery creates fabulous beers and ales which we are sure will go down well with our racegoers.”
Will Calvert, co-director of Windsor & Eton Brewery, added: “Having worked with Royal Windsor Racecourse over the years, it seemed a natural progression to develop a Windsor & Eton bar at the venue. Our ambition is to put Windsor back on the map as a brewing town, providing some of the best quality beers and ales in the country. Many of our award-winning beers will be available at Royal Windsor’s Duke Street Bar and we are very excited about its launch.”
