Avonmouth welding facility delivers components to nuclear and defence industries
A manufacturing and welding centre in Avonmouth, Bristol is providing all the stainless-steel components to the Hinkley Point power station in Somerset.
Framatome Ltd's manufacturing and welding centre of excellence has the capability to implement multiple methods of manufacturing and assembly including full modular solutions and pipe manufacture.

It's 400T, 4 meter Hydraulic Synchonized Press Brake is one of the largest in the UK and is mainly used for folding of critical components used in the manufacturing assembly.
"The facility has been in operation since May 2021, where it “struck its first Arc” and began manufacturing a selection of high-quality components for the nuclear industry" said Framatome.
"This includes all of the stainless-steel components for Hinkley Point (HPC)’s two IRWST (In-containment Refueling Water Storage Tank) pools which were successfully delivered to HPC in May 2024," it added.
Framatome said the facility comprises 5,000 square metres of workspace and includes five overhead 10T gantry cranes which can give a tandem lifting capacity of 20T.
In addition, Framatome provides high quality training in welding to international standards.
