It comes amid a push by the firm into the two sectors, particularly in strategic sales territories such as Italy, Singapore and North America, and as various factors impact the deployment of filtration solutions in the pharma and healthcare sectors.

These include increased regulatory compliance, technological innovation, the need for greater sustainability and a focus on more tailored solutions.

"There is a growing demand for high-quality filtration solutions and advanced technologies to meet stringent regulatory standards," said Silva, who added that her introduction to the Camberley firm had been "excellent".

"Nanofiltration and membrane technologies are being increasingly applied in areas such as protein purification and the removal of viruses and endotoxins.

"At the same time, the industry is shifting towards more environmentally friendly filtration solutions, including reusable filters and processes designed to minimise waste and energy consumption.

"Underpinning all this is a stronger focus on developing tailored solutions to meet specific customer needs."

She added: "I will be co-ordinating an international initiative to ensure consistency, alignment and key messaging in our sales efforts within the pharma and healthcare sectors.

"I will provide support directly to sales team members and, indirectly, through our distribution partners."

Based near Lisbon in Portugal, Silva has a background in biotechnological engineering, which began in a public health laboratory specialising in water microbiology.

After a decade in sales she spent the next eight years at an API manufacturer as a global procurement manager responsible for categories including process filtration.

Amazon Filters sales director Simon Hughes said: "Mafalda brings strong leadership skills and a proven track record of experience.

"She has extensive knowledge of how process filtration supports API and healthcare along with a deep understanding of global market dynamics and regulatory frameworks."
