Six health tech companies in the South Coast region

With the South Coast Tech Awards returning to the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl in October, we’re looking to present the region’s top tech talent with a wide range of awards.
As always, this event will look to recognise the work of companies in all areas of the tech sector.
With BDB Pitmans joining us this year to sponsor the Health Tech Company of the Year, we’ve put together a list of six potential winners who fit the brief:Â
Every single day, GE Healthcare’s imaging technology supports more than 250,000 patients. The company also manages more than 2 billion patient scans and invests at least £1 billion in R&D every year. With a focus on safety and sustainability, the company is strongly committed to embracing diverse perspectives in a continuous bid to ‘build a healthier world’.
Weymouth-based Medisave is a first thought for a number of medical professionals in the UK. Investing heavily in customer service and always having active deals on top items, Medisave provides customers with a sizeable range of medical equipment, disposables, uniforms and more. From bags and bins to needles and nebulisers, the company’s website has it all.
Offering market-leading technology enabled care services and access to innovative information tools, New Milton-based Appello is set on ‘changing lives’. Backed by more than 30 years of experience, the company takes great pride in being able to make a positive contribution to the well-being of communities across the South Coast.
With more than 1000 employees and operating out of 5 countries, the work of Portsmouth-based Navitas Life Sciences has been key in accelerating the time to market for many life-saving therapies. Providing outsourced data science, regulatory & safety, and full-service CRO services to a large network of clients, the company has been shaping the global health tech landscape for more than 20 years.
Since being founded in 2003, Crescent Pharma has become a well-known name in the UK’s health tech sector. Producing and marketing its own affordable generic medicines and impacting over 40 global territories, the company has bases in locations all over the country including Andover and Basingstoke. Despite its constant growth in the last 20 years, Crescent Pharma proudly holds the same small business values as it did when it first started out.
Based in Andover, Acumed’s origins date back to 1988 when it began as a small family business. Placing innovation and a commitment to discovery at the heart of its business, the company has been instrumental in pushing the advancement of medicine through its continuous support of research endeavors in Orthopaedics and other related medical specialties. Powered by a wealth of orthopaedic experience, Acumed is a prominent figure in the UK’s health tech sector.Â
